My wonderful wife and I just moved to central California, and we figured we'd start a healthier life style. Ya know, wake up early, do some yoga, more smoothies in the morning and less coffee.

Organism - Well my wife isn't working yet and as of Monday started making me smoothies each morning. These have been fantastic. We were able to get a lot of fresh produce and I've really been enjoying the energy boost. The only downside to these smoothies? Stomach issues, I have had diarrhea and stomach pains all week. Well, we just assumed it was from switching to a diet with a ton of fruit.

Font - Well, my smoothie this morning was a bit gritty and tasted off, so I asked my wife what was in it. "oh, strawberries, blueberries, bananas, apple juice, it was a bit thick so I used extra apple juice in it, that's probably why it tastes off. So I finish my smoothie, however the last sip of this 20oz smoothie is insanely gritty, so I ask her again." oh, well I did dump extra of your protein powder stuff in it"

Organism - Now back story real quick, I recently discovered that I have extremely low creatine levels. Like 10mg or whatever it is when the average jumanyhas about 200, creatine powder has been helping me feel a lot better and balanced this out. My wonderful wife has been adding this to my smoothies. So no worries right? A bit of extra is fine, so I ask how much. "oh, about double, it just dumped out more than usual."

Font - Wait, it dumped out more than usual??? How much is usual?? "oh about a quarter cup" A quarter cup is about 60 grams folks, the recommended dose is 5. 12x the recommended dose every day thus week, and about 120 grams today. Side effects of to much creatine? You guessed it, stomach pains and diarrhea..

Font - So, I write this sitting from the toilet in my office, where I've been for the last hour, shi ng straight water.. TLDR: didn't realize my wife had been putting creatine in my smoothie, I've taken 12x the normal dose every day this week, and today about 24x the normal dose apparently. This has caused me stomach pains and to crap water uncontrollably. It's fantastic. 4 7.5k 3 ↑, Share 508

Font - stankhunt · 2d Oh I feel your pain!!! I was trying to put on a bit of weight and had a personal trainer tell me I should start taking protein powder. What he said was "take a protein shake an hour before your workout" What I heard was "take a protein shake hourly on the day of your workout"... I couldn't believe how much I had to take... Until I told him what I was doing and he laughed at me non stop for the entire appointment!!

Font - hotlavatube · 2d I remember the first time I switched to loose leaf tea. I didn't know how much to add, so I eyeballed about ~1/4 cup loose black tea for 2 cups of tea. It turns out this was incorrect. About an hour after drinking the tea, I started feeling really sweaty and my heart was racing. Dramatic re-enactment. It turns out the correct amount of loose tea is 1 tsp per cup, so I should've added 2 tsp. Instead, I added 1/4 cup, or ~12 tsp, so ~6x the recommended amount. It was a roug

If you want a healthy smoothy use some fruit for flavor and mixed with greens, seeds and nuts. Use water, milk or a milk alternative for the liquid (which one is healthiest for you depends on your current needs and the rest of your diet). If nothing else ditch the apple juice, its basically sugar water. G Reply 16
